By emphasizing structured learning and safe training practices, students can train well into their 90s like our eternal Grand Master, Helio Gracie. We teach the Master Cycle® in an ego-free environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and camaraderie among all students regardless of age or athletic ability. Because people can grab and use the gi, it makes practice more technical because it reduces the effectiveness of using strength or athleticism to escape positions. The Master Cycle is an advanced jiu-jitsu program based on chapterized learning and weekly fight simulation training to ensure street readiness. 3 Modes Of Training 1) Gi Training Wearing a Gi or kimono is an essential mode of training in Gracie Jiu Jitsu. The Master Cycle's unique structure simplifies the journey to black belt by organizing all of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu into seven positional chapters (Mount, Side Mount, Guard, Half Guard, Back Mount, Leg Locks, Standing), each of which is studied for several months before moving on to the next chapter.Īpproximately 90% of people who start jiu-jitsu never make it to blue belt, and 99% of people who make it to blue never make it to black belt. The branches represent the Master Cycle, advanced techniques that you would use to overcome an opponent who is also trained in jiu-jitsu. Beyond blue belt, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu consists of hundreds of advanced techniques organized into a clearly defined, systematic curriculum called the Master Cycle®. If jiu-jitsu were a tree, Gracie Combatives would be the trunk representing the fundamental techniques that you would need in a street fight against an untrained opponent.
